I have found the death of an Ethel Pritchard born 23 12 1884 she died in Wrexham Maelor Dec Q 1976 and I am guessing she would have been Cremated and suggesting there could be an Obituary for her somewhere. These may give good info Tom

Here is a pic of the coronation of the second Minera School Queen and the retiring one is Marjorie Pritchard aged about 14 years I have a sister on the pic who looks about 10 years old and was born 1923 which could mean Marjorie is possibly the one born June q 1918 Mothers surname Pritchard. Marjorie is second from right-back row with a small boy standing imm. in front of her-sorry for the confusion Tom Attachments:

Hi, Just found Edwards Marriage in St Giles in 1918 to Ethel Hayward which may give quite a lot of info hopefully if someone has the time or opportunity to access it in the museum and would save purchasing the same. Also maybe someone can locate the graves in Wrexham Cemetery to see if there are any headstones and take some pics Regards Tom

Hi, I remember some of the Pritchard family living in Minera around about the 1940,s and I can confirm Annettes info re Edward Reece Pritchard as he is buried in Wrexham Cemetery Grave No 09555 bur 3 8 1949 aged 62 years having died in the Emergency Hospital in Wrexham. Living with him in Ivy Cottage at this time was Ethel Pritchard, I am sorry but I am not certain this was his wife and she had moved to Mwynyffordd Minera by 1962. However I remember Mr Pritchard worked in the Land Army Hostel by Five Crosses-it had been a billiard hall until it was taken over by the Government. This was about half a mile away from his home, Ivy Cottage. Living in Ivy Cottage at the time was Eric Vaughan Pritchard and his sister Marjorie.I am guessing they were Edwards children Erics mothers name was Hayward born Jun 1920 Eric served in the RAF and married a lovely lady named Blodwen Martha Hughes in Wrexham Jun Q 1941. They had 3 children David bap in Minera Church and born 6 3 1944, his sister Avril bap 9 6 1946 and a son Alan born 1952 who was a welder in Brymbo Steel Works and lived in Coedpoeth-Sadly he died a few years ago rather young. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling and I will contact you by e.mail as and when some more info comes to hand Good Luck Tom I have removed Marjories dob as it was probably wrong

I have the 3 1861 Census Discs for Denbighshire and following the Esc. Above Minera details it states -- Folio 79 to 84 is Blank and has not been copied. This could be the answer Tom

Hi Ago, I have just been chatting to Fred Edwards the son of George who went to the actual crash. A very basic way of identifying the exact crash area as far as he is aware would be to draw a triangle between Gwern To Bach, Gwern Hall and Pen y Nant and the crash site would be somewhere in the middle. Have you identified Gwern to Bach yet? I went there last week and as it is occupied I think you would need to make a request to place the plaque anywhere on their property as a gesture of goodwill, manners politeness whatever, but I am sure they would agree. Just as a note of interest Fred's wife has a brooch made from the perspex of this plane in the shape of an aeroplane made by someone in the village at the time. Good luck with your very worthy project. Regards Tom

Hi, Two of the pics show show the main road through Coedpoeth to Gwynfryn etc as a skyline and I have enjoyed trying to identify some of the more prominent buildings but am not absolutely certain enough to put on here. I think one is either Rehoboth or Preswylfa(Smelt) Chapel maybe both but they do not fit in with the rest according to my memory. It makes one realise how many houses have been built in the area since these pics were taken Regards Tom

Hi Ago, Great pics and it certainly is the house you mentioned and there were at least two families living there abt 1950--The Roberts's and the Taylors and it was called Marion House on the Electors List. Thanks Tom

Here is a pic of Minera abt 1970 showing Plas Gwyn in the centre and as Y Cyttiau was situated exactly across the road from the front of this house it should give you an idea of the surrounding area.-Tom Attachments:
