Hi, Just to close this particular thread on a triumphant note-- I have found the burial 8th October 1942 in Minera. An amazing co-incidence but my own father is the next burial in the register. As I knew his details I had never searched this register before. If anyone ever has the date of death I would still appreciate it but in the meantime lets end on a happy note and say thankyou to all who helped me in any way and thanks again--Tom

HI, A John Davies aged 65 yrs (Ty Brith, Minera) is buried in Coedpoeth Cemetery Plot No 1424-- 7 7 1939 LW IMG 9900--dob correct with Sarah Catherine 58 yrs bur. 28 1 1933. also Norma Maureen Davies 8 Months bur. 25 11 1944. I am not certain, but I think this is the Late Cliff Davies,s Grandfather and if so I am pretty sure they came from Llandegla and there are surviving relatives still in Minera and Coedpoeth. Appreciate this could be a complete red herring (so proceed with caution) and if so--my apologies Regards Tom

The only reason I think they are born Llanferres is I have presumed they are the family living next door in 1881 census and that gives born llanferres--B****y amateur arent I?

Hi Both, Thanks for your input I have plenty to ponder and first I am wondering where Llewelyn was in 1861 if the rest is correct. I will also need to try and find a Tom Williams-carpenter when I have a chance. I also have another family now Ann Williams dau. of Hugh if you have any info I would be grateful.(I know some people are never satisfied!) Thanks again Tom

Hi, I do have the 1881 Census ( Silly Me) And it appears the address applies to about 10 houses--White Lion must have been a row of houses or something like that. I have also found the reason (Hopefully) for Ellen,s different ages as it appears Ellen diappeared and William remarried in Minera March Qtr 1897 to Ann Williams--Have not looked this up yet so no proof so far--only theories. I agree the Blaenavon lot look promising and thanks for your help so far, Unable to think of anything else which could help sorry, Tom

This couple are only on the fringe of my family tree but I believe I have put some wrong info in hence an appeal for help. I believe the marriage in Minera 22 12 1876 is the correct one for these two--William Williams aged 30 Yrs. Maes y Ffynnon, Minera. Blacksmith. Father Thomas Williams Carpenter- Marr.- Ellen Edwards aged 30 Yrs. New Brighton, Minera, Father John Edwards, Miner, Witnesses Owen Jones and Harriet Edwards. I think I have found her mother living at the same address White Lion, Minera in 1881 census --Elizabeth Edwards, aged 55 Yrs, born Llanferres( same as Ellen) with a son Llewelyn aged 26 Yrs. What I am really after now is the correct parents of these two if anyone can help me. I have found really big differences in age in Census reports after 1881 but feel the marriage ages are nearest to the truth. Any help appreciated as I do not have access to Census.

This has niggled me for some time---Elizabeth Jones was alive at the outbreak of WW 2 1939 as family remember her problems getting to an Air Raid Shelter in a wheelchair as she was crippled with arthritis. She was born in Erryrys abt 1883 and married George Ellis who died very young in Minera 1912 (bur Minera 18 3 1912) She later married Heth Jones 1 5 1926 in Jerusalem Chapel Wxm (The Witnesses were ::)Tom Williams and his wife Jane yes the very one involved in The Limeworks Tramp Saga) When Heth died in 1956 he was buried with his first wife Ruth (nee Edwards a sister to Elizabeth) who had died in 1924 and there is a headstone to verify this in Coedpoeth Cemetery. I must presume Elizabeth was possibly buried with her first husband George in Minera but have failed to find it so far. I have the relevant census details but would appreciate putting this one to bed.

Hi, Williams makes all the difference-- You choose which one you prefer-- Hannah Jane Williams aged 89 Yrs buried 21 3 1990 plot 2505 --same plot Edward Roberts aged 55 Bur 8 8 1935 and Annie Roberts aged 57 bur 5 3 1937 also in Coedpoeth Hannah Jane Williams aged 74 yrs bur 25 6 1967 and Isaac llewelyn Williams aged 93 Yrs bur 4 4 1985 both in plot 1970 and I do not think there are any Lee Wetton pics so there may well be a kerb as against a headstone- hope this helps regards Tom
