Hi, I am slightly disappointed that nobody can help find more about this family.I did hope that there would be some response. 17 views and no answers. Robert Davies married Ellin Ann Harnaman in 1873 at Clocaenog. Ellin died in 1875 and is buried at Llandegla. Robert married again betwen 1875 and 1881 to Sarah ? In 1891 they were living at Eistedffod Cottages , Minera with son John aged 17 from first marriage and daughters Annie,Jane ,and Miriam. Can anybody help ?

Hi gogs, People on the site give their time freely and willingly and do so because they enjoy helping others and /or get a lot out of family and local history. I am sure when or if someone has the time or is able to help, they will. Eluned.

Can you help us by giving where the family were born and the ages of the other girls. The we can make a start, have you checked out the Parish Registers Online , from the Home Page, they might show up there , or possibly in Wern records if the were Non Com.

Wern baptisms and Burials , you will have to look at the bottom of the page after you click on Baptisms , same site, No marriages for Wern though. Have you tried them in 1881 in family search .
If you don`t have any joy, I`ll havea looksee tomorrow, Good luck .

Hello sceptrelady, Thanks again for your efforts. Robert Davies was son of John and says he was born in Llandyrnog. I have not been able to find Robert and Sarah in 1901. Roberts birthdate varies from 1846- 1852

On another thread 'Minera' which you started on 6 Oct you asked - Does anyone know where Eisteddfod Cottages were/are? Are they still standing?
Eisteddfod Farm and Eisteddfod Cottage(s) were/are situated a short distance to the west of the hamlet/village of Gwynfryn (Pentre Bais) in the Minera parish.
Have a look at the aerial photo of Pentre Bais (Gwynfryn) on the Home Page Minera History. Eisteddfod Farm and Eisteddfod Cottage(s) were/are just off this photo on the left hand side.
The ruins of Eisteddfod Farm were still there the last time I passed the place some years ago and the premises then had clearly become unused a long time ago. Eisteddfod Cottage(s) may have been a part of the same complex of ruined buildings or possibly on the other side of the lane which leads from there down to the Minera Lime Quarry in which case Eisteddfod Cottage(s) would have been removed for a widening of this lane.

Hello Heather. Robert Davies married Ellen(or Ellin) Ann Harnaman at Clocaenog in 1873 where he gives his age as 25. His father's name was John (labourer) Witnesses at wedding were Thomas Jenkins and Hannah Harnaman.

Thats what we want ;D more details ;D ;D ;D
So if Robert was 25 in 1873, by my reckoning he was born c 1847/8
This could then be him. Place and age match, also Dad is a John.
1851 Llandyrnog ( no other place name ) John Davies 28 shoemaker b Llandyrnog Dorothy wife 26 shoemakers wife ditto Robert son b 4 ditto Daniel son 2 b ditto Robert Evans father in law widower 67 retired ag lab b Llanbedr.
Now I hope this is the right one `cos it gived the added info that Dot was previously an Evans.

B****er In 1861 we have two choices Robert Davies servant aged 15 a carter b Llandyrnog He is working for Anne Roberts a widow aged 70 living at Ty Brazier Llandyrnog. Robert Davies servant aged 14 a groom b Llandwrnog Working for Mary Ann Williams 56 at Borth. Llanbedr Just found another one Robert Davies aged 13 drapers apprentice b Llandyrnog working for Thos Parry 27 Draper and Grocer in Ruthin No clues there then Also in 1861 John the shoemaker aged 36 is still living in Llandyrnog with Dorothy . Robert and Daniel are missing but by now there are another five children. I don`t want to go further on this yet, cos there`s no 100% proof it is the right family. Shoe maker and labourer , not sure about this.

1871 Village cottage Llandyrnog John Davies 48 shoemaker b Llandyrnog Dorothy 47 four children at home, Now you see why it can be so frustrating, these are the only good matches, but why has Robert just called his Dad a labourer when he had a trade. Can we be sure this is the right one.

Do you mean in 1871 there`s no Robert, he would be about 23 then, and hardly likely to be still at home, look at the ones in 1861 all servants living away from home at 13/14/15. Do you have access to An*****y

Neither can I really, but it keeps me out of the pubs ;D ;D ;D Maybe somebody else has a opinion on what I`ve found. Sometimes you just have to look `sideways` to find what you are after. Annoying I can`t find him in 1871.
What month did he marry Ellen Harnaman , There are quite a few people with that name in the same area in Denbs , what was her fathers name and occupation.
