I`m still hoping we have the correct family, and this might be Joseph in 1861. if it is at least we know some of the family moved from Wrexham 1861RG9; Piece: 2736; Folio: 92; Page: 25; 1 Rock Mount, Southside , West Derby. Joseph Price 53 joiner b Rhostyllen Wrexham Mary Price 49 b Wrexham I `m 99% certain now that this is the same Joseph from 1851. Have you go the full details of William and Hannah`s marriage. Was she Hannah Coates married Chorlton Sept qtr 1872 ? It would seem that William the father was deceased by then , if Mary is a widow in 1871. How have you got the name Mary Jackson for William and Josephs mother.?

Does any one know any thing about Thomas G Morgan whowas married Harriet Selina Jones in wrexham in 1930 he was the second husband of my great gran There are many Thomas Morgans about, to trace him we would need his appx birth year , where he was born etc. You might get this info from their marriage cerificate , or at least their ages at death. I`ll start another thread for Thomas Morgan, it`s getting a bit mixed up on this one now. Can you post your reply on this one please. minerahistory.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=neighbour&action=display&thread=865

Going back to Stephen b Hanley. In 1881 we have Stable Row, Vron RG11/5517, F.9, P.10 Evan is married but where is his wife. Griffith Edwards Evan " son M 23 coal miner b." In 1891 Isaac and Evan are not at home. This looks like Evan living in Hanley where Stephen was supposedly born. Given the fact that one son is named Griffith after his father ???and another Edwin after his brother , I think this family could be linked to Stephen. 1891RG12; Piece: 2167; Folio 70; Page 25; 32 Back Well St, Hanley, Evan Edwards 33 collier b Denbs Sarah Ann Edwards 29 wife b Denbs Edwin Edwards 8 b Hanley Griffith Edwards 4 b Hanley. Now there is no marriage of an Evan Edwards to a Sarah Ann in Wrexham, BUT there is this one in Stoke Marriages Dec 1880 Clewlow Samuel Stoke T. 6b 394 Edwards Evan Stoke upon Trent 6b 394 JONES Sarah Ann Stoke T. 6b 394 Lilley Rose Ann Stoke T. 6b 394 We couldn`t find a Stephen Edwards BUT what about this one. Births Dec 1880 Jones Stephen Stoke upon Trent 6b 162 I wouldn`t mind a fiver on the chances of this being `our` Stephen , born just before his parents got married. Of course I could be completely wrong. But now I `ve found this so I think my fiver is safe. ;D 1881 RG11; Piece: 2717; Folio: 41; Page: 28; 47 Church Street Hanley Stoke on Trent Sarah Ann Edwards married age 20 coal miners wife Servant b Coed Poett, Flintshire, Wales She is in the household of a Edward Williams a Grocer from Lixwm Flints, I wonder why Evan went back to his parents with little Stephen, at least they got back together again even if Stephen stayed in Coedpoeth. 1901 RG13; Piece: 2600; Folio: 81; Page: 29. Evan, Sarah Ann, Edwin and Griffith are still living in Hanley. 34 Well Street, all the men are coal hewers below. There are no more children. Right, I think I need a John Smiths after all that. ;D ;D ;D

Hi Linda, I have checked this and it is correct , he is entered as both, born c 1880, but there is also another Stephen born c 1869. This needs to looked at more closely to see who are his parents.
This could be the marriage of Selina. Thomas G Morgan = Selina Jones Oct-Nov-Dec 1930 Wrexham Civil Marriage.

Penygelli opened in 1868 . Mr Griffith T Jones was the master from Dec 1871. I have copied some of his entries from the logs books, they certainly make interesting reading.
I`ve had a very generous offer of help from another Minera member to print these Log Books as and when they are ready. Watch out J K Rowling ;D ;D ;D
I think I`d better explain what`s going on with these logs. They are not going to be `mass` produced for people to buy, in fact you won`t be able to buy one at all. There will be some copies printed, and these will go to Wrexham Archives, and Coedpoeth Library, and I think that it would nice for a set to go to Penygelli School . Without the help of the present headmaster I would not have been able to even get this started
I can send the files to other archives and they can then print them off for their own use. Bangor Library have copies of Wern, Salem and other Coedpoeth registers that I sent to them. Hope that made it all clear.

In 1901 there are 35 people living in Bersham parish born Ireland Of these , 21 are inmates in the Workhouse, none of these have any links to that trade, and of all the others there is only Julia M Soames who has any connection to the Brewery.

Hmmmmmmm The directories are not much help, 1895 and 1913 are a bit off the mark, and don`t always give the names of the landlords. Pubs and Inquests had a bit more detail but whether it`s any use First one that stuck out was - Crown, Talwrn. In 1901 Eleanor Williams was fined for selling beer on a Sunday The licence was transferred to John Parry. Forget Eleanor, just found her in 1901 , landlady aged 62 born Llandegla Butchers Arms, Talwrn.1907 J Jones 1918 Mr Kelly Castle Inn, Coedpoeth1909 D Press. Queens Head, Coedpoeth1909 J Kelly

This is copied from the 1841 census look up thread on the Gummows. I can't connect Thomas and William either! Interesting post from Annedw, though, because I had concluded that this William was born in Bersham in 1888 to Abraham, a coal mine stoker, and Amelia (nee Edwards). Their address on the 1891 census transcript is Ddol Hill, Bersham, Adwy. William and Ethel married in June 1920 (Wrexham civil marriage). Abraham was born in 1866 in Hope to John and Sarah (nee George) Phennah, who were also both born in Hope, in 1831 and 1832 RG11; Piece: 3567; Folio: 33; Page: 25 In 1881 this Abraham living with his parents and a younger brother Jacob. Perhaps there will a be a report on William and Ethels wedding in the local paper. Copies on micro film are at Wrexham Museum. I`m guessing you mean June qtr rather than the actual month of June, but they still shouldn`t take long to search.

I`ve just been looking at 19th C newspapers, there are many mentions of Thomas, Robert Phennah and others that may be their cjhildren as late as 1900, including what seems to be a marriage in 1864 of TP to Miss Brade daughter of James Brade. Problem is, most of these are in a Welsh paper. There`s also a Mary Phennah of Caergwrle aged 72 in 1853 who stole 9lb cheese from the Talbot Inn and clogs from Mrs Liptrot`s shop in the Town Hall. OOOOOOOOOh the shame of it is she your skeleton in the cupboard ;D Have sent a PM
